Barnbougle Lost Farm opened officially on Dec 10th, 2010.

This from Adam Smith in The Mercury:
"GOLF enthusiasts thinking it couldn't get any better than the Barnbougle Dunes course, near Bridport on the northeast coast of Tasmania, might be in for shock. Barnbougle's newest addition, Lost Farm, officially opened yesterday, but if the early reviews from six weeks of soft openings are anything to go by it could be even better than the original. And that will be no mean feat. Barnbougle Dunes has moved up to No.4 in Golf Digest's top 100 courses in Australia, and is entrenched as the No.1 public-access course in the country. It is also ranked No.43 in the top 100 courses in the world and has featured in the top 10 for public-access courses in the world for a number of years. Yet Lost Farm, designed by Bill Coore from renowned American architecture firm Coore and Crenshaw, has set tongues wagging."

The Mercury goes on to say,
"Like the first course, Lost Farm is a true test for any golfer with its links layout set amongst the northeast coast's dramatic dunes. Winds whip across the well bunkered 20-hole course, setting the challenge high, depending on which direction it comes from. A 100m par three might require anything up to a 6-iron if the wind is directly in the player's face, while the monster par-five 8th, at 545m, can play well over 600m in unfavourable conditions. Conversely, friendly winds make driving some of the short par-four holes, such as the 3rd and 14th, possible. Of course spray a shot wide and there is plenty of bush waiting to consume the golf ball."

The big difference between Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm is that Lost Farm will be attractive to a wider range of people, as it will be a resort.

"Views from the restaurant are breathtaking, the Wellness Centre overlooking the 15th hole provides spa and massage facilities and the clubhouse - due for completion next month or early February - will contain the pro shop, bar and gaming room." Read more of Adam Smith's in-depth article here.
